Abounded

Abounded – The Company

Worried by the nature crisis, five friends decided to make a contribution. They set up Abounded, with the mission to deliver nature positive projects in the UK.

In the autumn of 2024, the first project was launched. The group took ownership of 20 acres of low grade pasture in Kent. The land was in poor condition. It had been heavily grazed and fertilised with little biodiversity. However, the site had great potential, bordered by a stream on one side, close to ancient woodland, it could be a stepping stone for nature in the area, providing more habitat and helping to increase nature connectivity across the landscape.

Working with the Kent Wildlife Trust, a scheme to increase biodiversity on the site was developed. 500m more hedgerow, some standard trees, a wet woodland along the border close to the stream and a lowland meadow. The project will create habitat for many bird, bats, hedgehogs and perhaps even otters.

At worst, the project will make a part of the country more wonderful and help nature recover. At best, Abounded will sell some biodiversity units. The friends are agreed that if they do, then all the proceeds will be ploughed back into another nature positive project.
